We’re really excited to be welcoming British filmmaker and best-selling author Chris Jones to our 2016 Festival, Chris will be delivering two workshop sessions on Saturday 14th May, within which he’ll be sharing his vast knowledge in no/low budget filmmaking. Tackling subjects like scriptwriting within your means, location sourcing, essential equipment and crew, production pitfalls & post production skills.

Known for his excellent Guerilla Filmmaking Guides, Chris has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in filmmaking and has written and directed a number of successful short and feature films under the film company he owns, Living Spirit Pictures.

Jones’ short film Gone Fishing starring Bill Paterson was premiered at BAFTA in 2008 and has since gone on to receive over 30 festival awards and prizes, achieving the prize for Best Narrative Short by the Producers Guild of America and making it into the final 10 short films long-listed for the 2009 Academy Awards.

He has made three feature films, The Runner, White Angel and Urban Ghost Story, all of which have been theatrically released in the UK and abroad, with both White Angel and Urban Ghost Story collecting several festival awards.

Most recently, Chris has released the feature film, 50 Kisses (2014), which was made in collaboration with the London Screenwriters’ Festival. You can watch the trailer here.

Chris is also the author of the best selling guides to film making, The Guerilla Film Makers Handbook series, including the Guerilla Film Makers Handbook (now in it’s 3rd edition) Hollywood Handbook and The Movie Blueprint. The books have sold over 100,000 copies worldwide and are generally referred to by emerging film makers as ‘The Big Green Book’ or ‘The Bible’.

He has been teaching emerging film makers for the past ten years, with over 1,000 delegates having attended his seminars now, in the UK, Germany, South Africa, Canada, New Zealand and the USA. So we’re both honoured and excited to be hosting Chris at this year’s festival.
